The Tunnel

This set marks the transition from the Lost City into the tunnel’s depths. Long, continuous shots enhance immersion, while glowing flora and hanging rock formations reinforce the descent into an alien environment.

The challenge was to design a tunnel that feels vast yet claustrophobic, illuminated by cascading bioluminescent threads hanging from the ceiling. These glowing strands guide the viewer’s gaze downward, contrasting against the deep blue shadows to create a hypnotic, otherworldly atmosphere.

Storyboard and Concept

The initial sketches explore the tunnel’s core idea: a vast, vertical descent where figures drift weightlessly through tangled roots and glowing threads. The focus lies on creating depth, subtle lighting, and an uneasy calm.

Details that bring the tunnel to life.

Each element plays a role in shaping the final form before rendering. From glowing flora and suspended debris to jagged rock formations and sculpted cave geometry.

Previsualization Clip

This clip explores the tunnel’s mood, featuring bioluminescent threads and a dreamlike descent through light and shadow.

Lighting and Composition

Bioluminescent threads and cascading light beams break through the darkness, guiding the viewer’s gaze while adding depth to the tunnel’s vertical expanse. The interplay of light and shadow shapes a tranquil yet eerie underwater journey.
