KYRILL Making Of: 3 — The Room

The Room

Originally conceived as the opening set of the KYRILL video, The Room underwent significant changes during production. In early storyboards, the set was envisioned as an architectural space where the character would transition into their dream. Eventually, the room set was placed between the pipedream, now symbolizing the entrance into a lucid dreaming phase.

Bringing the Room to Life

Sketching the transition: The initial storyboard sketch shows The Room in its envisioned decayed state, surrounded by overgrown foliage inmidst the ocean.

Unveiling the Layers
The Room’s design started as a 3D model with broken surfaces, pipes, and cables. As the direction changed, much of this was hidden by flowing water walls, leaving only fragments visible.

Scanning the Singer: A detailed 3D scan of the singer was created. However, instead of a lifelike representation, the team opted for a glowing water shader to enhance the surreal quality of the room.

Water Walls: The boundaries of this set are not defined by walls but by a cascade of water surrounding the character, which itself consists solely of glowing water.

The singer’s figure dissolves into the dreamlike ambiance.

The Dream State

The Room marks the transition deeper into the dream. By hiding its structure and blending it with the fluidity of water, it becomes a space where the audience—and the narrative—lose their grip on reality, sinking further into the relentless depths.
