Kyrill – A Visual Experience

On September 11th, 2017, Hurricane Irma struck the United States with devastating force.

Drawing with an inkpan what happened in the multicam streams from live webcams during the event deeply influenced the themes and direction of this project. Combined with the song’s title, Kyrill—a reference to the destructive storm that hit Germany in 2007—the visuals aim to reflect the raw power and chaos of nature while exploring its impact on human fragility.

From Sketch to Screen

1

Initial Inspiration

Pen-and-ink drawings captured during live streams of Hurricane Irma formed the core narrative. These drawings were cut, rearranged, and adjusted to create a storyboard that embodied the chaos and emotion of the storm.
“Working alone, I explored ways to mirror the dynamic force of nature into a cohesive story—balancing the unpredictable with human vulnerability.”

2

Concept Refinement

Each frame transitioned from raw sketches into more detailed, planned scenes. Adjustments often meant revisiting the core themes to ensure the visuals didn’t stray too far from the inspired origin.

3

Technical Execution

CGI production became the core of the project, requiring continuous iteration to balance visual ambition with technical constraints.

This phase was instrumental in shaping the final workflow and pushing the boundaries of what could be achieved solo.
