DomicileVR

– Virtual Reality for Real Estate Education

Year:     2019–2021

Project Overview

DomicileVR is a virtual reality-based training platform developed between 2019 and 2021. The project was created to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the real estate sector by offering a practical learning environment. With a focus on apartment handovers, the VR application allows trainees to practice identifying damages, documenting findings, and engaging in professional communication scenarios.

Key Features

  • Dynamic Virtual Environment: The VR scenario includes customizable features such as damage placement (e.g., decals) and variable litter models, ensuring a flexible and adaptable training experience.
  • Accessibility: Designed for smartphone compatibility, the app works seamlessly with simple VR devices like Google Cardboard, making it easy to integrate into existing training setups.
  • Flexible Learning Modes: The platform supports both trainer-led sessions and self-directed learning, offering options for individual or group training.

Development Context

The project involved close collaboration between educational experts and real estate professionals, aiming to modernize industry-specific education through technology. While the outcomes primarily focus on skill enhancement and practical knowledge, the accessible design ensures that even small enterprises can adopt the training.

My Contribution

As part of the research and development team, I was responsible for creating the platform’s visual components:

    • Data Acquisition: Conducted photogrammetric 3D scans of real apartments to capture accurate measurements and realistic textures.
    • 3D Asset Creation: Designed mobile- and game-ready modular assets, such as litter bags, cleaning tools, and hundreds of damage decals, tailored to the project’s learning scenarios.
    • Scenario Development: Developed dynamic VR apartment environments with customizable layouts and conditions to suit diverse training needs.
