Arrival at the Cloud Spires
Year: 2016
After a long drift through deep space, a fleet of remaining ships finally approaches the mysterious Cloud Spires – towering structures piercing through an endless ocean of vapor.
Are they remnants of a forgotten civilization? Power stations? Habitats?
Some of the spires still emit soft beams of light, as if waiting to be reactivated. The fleet hesitates.
The atmosphere is breathable. The infrastructure is intact.
But there are no signs of life. Not yet.
For now, the silence speaks louder than any signal.
Logbook Excerpt – Pilot 14:
“The fleeing ships finally broke through the upper atmosphere. Below them stretched a white, endless ocean of clouds. Rising from it—massive spires wrapped in a lattice of dark material. Each one crowned with a basket-like structure.
These were not natural. Yet no signs of life, no signals, no defense.
As we moved closer, sunlight revealed glowing beams connecting several towers. Were these remnants of energy systems? Could these structures still be alive—waiting?
The fleet split: some circled, others prepared for descent.
These towers… they hum. But we can’t tell if it’s welcome… or warning.”
Visual worlds need systems.
Design gives fiction weight — and coherence.
I build worlds that feel explorable, grounded — even when floating in clouds.
